Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes.
Every year at the beginning of December Mr CW gets very worried. I disappear off to Christies and Sotheby’s and send him WhatsApp messages saying “What about this one? We’d only need to sell the house and mortgage the children.” Accompanied by a snap of a painting, usually a Bruegel, that is going under the hammer in an upcoming sale. This week is that week. Elsewhere I have sampling the Gingerbread City, seeing an old friend restored at the National Gallery and having a poetic moment at the Royal Festival Hall.
Drumroll please. This year’s Cultural Wednesday’s Books of the Year is out. My favourite reads of this year all gathered together in one place (well two because there is a summer edition too). Church crawling and medieval visions both feature along with a fascinating read about overlooked medieval women. What has been your favourite read this year?
Happy Culturing
Catherine
