Welcome to Wednesday Wishes. A bumper two week Easter edition. There has been a flurry of new exhibitions opening as museums and galleries make sure that they have new and shiny things on offer in time for the holidays. All the Rossettis, three fashion exhibitions, Ai Weiwei and Lego, Milk, Flowers, Berthe Morisot, David Bowie and the largest creature to ever walk the earth all feature. Book of the Week goes to the other end of the scale with a look at how teeny tiny bacteria and viruses have affected world history.
The National Gallery has a brand new restaurant. Ochre occupies the suite of rooms opposite St Martin in the Fields. Open from lunchtime to late evening it offers lunch, cocktails and dinner. To complement the excellent After Impressionism exhibition Ochre has a special afternoon tea, expect all the usual sandwiches and scones but with the addition of beautiful and delicious Impressionist inspired cakes. National Gallery members get a discount, as do After Impressionism ticket holders.
