Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes. This week all things Spanish Art at the Royal Academy. Art from a different perspective at Sotheby’s, two free light shows in Canary Wharf and Battersea Power Station and the latest edition of the London Art Fair. Book of the Week is River Sing Me Home by Eleanor Shearer a powerful look at what freedom really means as a runaway slave goes in search of her children.
News of new exhibitions to look forward to have pinging into my inbox this week. The Design Museum is to take a look at the modern sari with The Offbeat Sari opening in May. The Royal Collection Trust is to take a look at Georgian fashion with Style and Society: Dressing the Georgians at the Queen’s Gallery opening in April. Staying with the Royal theme the Wallace Collection is to have a free show devoted to the Queen and her Corgis opening in March. Tickets are on sale, so if you want to plan ahead click on the blue words.
When I told Teen One about the Spanish exhibition at the Royal Academy he asked if it was to be like the Spanish Gallery in Bishop Auckland that we saw when we were in County Durham? The answer is sort of, but that if you see the RA show and have your appetite piqued for Spanish Art a visit to Bishop Auckland would be well worth while.
Happy Culturing
Catherine
