Hello
How are you? I’m finding solace in the appearance of twinkly lights now that the nights are drawing in. Kew Gardens , the best paid for lights in London in my opinion, opens tonight. Inside warm galleries Christo and Jean Claude are celebrated at the Saatchi Gallery, we discover the close mutual friendship of Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins at the Dickens Museum and over at the National Gallery take a close look at Liotard for free. Book of the week, this week is a bit cheeky and all about bottom, cultural ones of course.
Vyki from Museum Mum and I have got back behind the microphones and recorded a new episode of The Exhibitionists Podcast. We’ve compared notes and come up with our six favourite London exhibitions this autumn. Click on the link below for a listen.
Earlier this year I went to see a Sarah See installation in the Old Waiting Room at Peckham Rye station. The installation was fabulous but the room itself looked really interesting. It had been unused for decades, now once again the space is being used for a series of events including music, at workshops and talks. So glad that the space is being used again.
My bags are packed and I’m ready to hop on the train up for couple of days in Durham and a little bit beyond. My visit will start with Durham Lumiere the UK’s largest light festival, I’ve wanted to visit ever since it started in 2009 and so am very excited. On Friday I’m off to visit the new Faith Museum at Bishop Aukland and then a quick skip over to the Bowes Museum, one of my favourite museums. All just over a couple of hours away from Kings Cross Station. Keep an eye on my Instagram for regular updates.
Happy Culturing
Catherine
