Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes. Did you know that Cambridge was less than an hour away from Kings Cross station? It takes years to get there on the M11! Anyway back to this week’s wishes which feature the Queen’s Corgis at the Wallace Collection, Anthony Caro at Pitzhanger Manor and a train journey to Cambridge where I saw Lucy Rie and learnt about Greek Islanders. Whilst in Cambridge I discovered another museum I would like to live in, Kettles Yard.
Something to book ahead. Its not all concerts and exhibitions at the Southbank Centre they have really interesting talks and discussions too. I’m signed up to attend a debate entitle The War In Ukraine: How does it End? with a panel made up of Dr Olesya Khromeychuk, Orlando Figes, Max Hastings and Anne Applebaum. Should be really interesting. You can book tickets via the Southbank website. We are members of the Southbank and get priority booking for all events and access to the members room, take a look at my guide to London Memberships for a whole raft of member benefits.
Did you know that March 18 is World Sleep Day? No I didn’t either until an email popped into inbox telling me about a sleep event at the Fitzrovia Chapel. Yes really. You get to lie down on a comfy mattress wrapped in a blanket beneath the glittering ceiling. Then you you get guided into meditation with the aid of gong bowls and a live harpist. This sounds like heaven. We will be collecting Teen Two from Uni but next year I will make sure I am free for World Sleep Day! Tickets can be booked via the Fitzrovia Chapel.
Can you draw? I can’t, everything just ends up looking like a mess, but I would love to. The Royal Academy has a Saturday Sketch Club suitable for all levels, it claims. The Sketch Club is online so, if your efforts are truly bad nobody will see but you are encouraged to share your creations via social media. Each session needs to be booked via the RA website and costs £10.
Happy Culturing
