Welcome to Wednesday Wishes.
Head over to the National Gallery for a sublime free exhibition starring St Francis of Assisi. Elsewhere there are lots of crafty things going on across London as part of London Craft Week. Somerset House is playing host to Photo London. For extraordinary photos of churches head to Shoreditch for a free show by Peter Li. Just down the road the incredible Dennis Severs House is a tiny bit more fabulous for a few weeks with the addition of some ceramics. Book of the Week is all about Henry VIII, a man who is not short of books written about him but this one manages to be fresh.
One of my favourite places to buy presents and/or things to hang on the wall is the Wimbledon Art Fair. Most of time 150 or so artists have their studios in a large building on an industrial estate in Wimbledon. Twice a year they all throw their doors open to the public and put their work on sale. Jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, paintings and prints are all on offer. Most affordable but some you need to save up for.
Saturday 13 May is National Mills Day in the Netherlands. What could be more Dutch than a windmill? Take a look at the windmill that we saw as we drove across the Beemster Polder complete with a tempting see inside a windmill sign.
Happy Culturing
