Welcome to Wednesday Wishes. Ships are theme of this week’s Wishes. Ships painted by a superstar Dutch Father and Son duo invited by King Charles II to come an live and work in London. One of the ships they painted sank whilst carrying the heir to the throne. Now the wreck of the Gloucester has been found and objects found have gone on display for the first time. Westminster Abbey will play a starring role in the Coronation. Every year the Royal Family gather at the Abbey to celebrate Commonwealth Day. This year you can join them, not the Royal Family but the Abbey. There will be a special Commonwealth Day Abbey Late on Wednesday 8 March. Dance, music and poetry from India, Sri Lanka, Ghana and New Zealand will be performed. Tickets are £13 and need to be booked in advance.
If you fancy seeing the carriages that will be used during the Coronation procession head down to the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace which reopens on Thursday. You get see no only the Gold State Coach but also cars from the Royal fleet and some of the horses that pull that carriages.
It is 50 years since David Bowie released Aladdin Sane. The Southbank Centre are planning a whole range of events to celebrate including an exhibition, concerts and talks. Tickets go on sale today, be quick they are bound to be popular.
