Hello, welcome to Wednesday Wishes.
London’s museums and galleries are sill putting the finishing touches to the first new exhibitions to open in 2024. So this week the blog post is devoted to the top five exhibitions to see in London before they close in January. You need to be really quick to catch the magnificent Van de Veldes tapestries at the Queen’s House, Greenwich which closes this Sunday. You have a smidge longer to see David Hockney at the National Portrait Gallery, Frans Halls next door at the National Gallery, Christo at the Saatchi Gallery or Rubens down at the Dulwich Picture Gallery.
A couple of dates for your diary and things to book. At the end of the month St Martin in the Fields is to be lit up by Luxmuralis. Last years installation was one of the highlights of my year. Life will be projected inside and outside the building and be accompanied with immersive sound. It will run from 30 January - 3 February and tickets are £10 and need to be booked in advance. Mr CW and I are all booked in the the 30th.
Dire Straits provided the musical backdrop to my early 20s. Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits is putting his guitar collection up for sale at Christies. You will be able to go along and see all 120 guitars and assorted amps from 19 - 30 January at Christies on King Street. On Wednesday 24 January Christies is having one of its lates themed around the music of Dire Straits and the guitars. Christies Lates are free but you need to register
Happy Culturing
