Hello!
Welcome to the final Wednesday Wishes of 2022.
Greetings from Jamaica Inn on an icy morning. Better for breakfast than for lunch or coffee and with an excellent selection of Daphne du Mauier novels to buy. I’ve never read Frenchman’s Creek, do you think I should?
Snow, trains and a lurgy are foxing my plans this week. Trains are not heading this far south on the Southern network until Sunday. This makes getting Teen Two and Mr CW up to London for work tricky. Thankfully today is not a scheduled travel day and so we shall use it to decorate the Christmas tree. When free and easy movement is once more possible Greenwich, Peckham and St Albans (really easy via Thameslink) are all on the cards.
Every year I buy the wrong amount of Christmas cards. End up rushing out to buy extras and putting the remainder aside for the next year. Turns out that last year I must have planned perfectly as there were none left. Hence my visit to excellent shop in the Crypt of St Martins in the Fields. Whilst I was leaving I noticed a poster advertising Crypt Lates. Naturally I hunted down a leaflet and found out more. Turns out that in the evening the Crypt turns into a caberet with a selection of performers from West End theatres. They are now added to my list of London Cultural Lates. Also added this week are Wednesday’s at the South London Gallery, this week with a Christmas market.
Thank you for inviting me into your inbox each Wednesday. I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday period and I shall see you in the New Year.
Happy Culturing
Catherine
