Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes. Back in London where the rain in making my garden grow. This week’s wishes include the latest Serpentine Pavilion, the Art of Literature at Christies, Picasso and Ingress come face to face at the National Gallery and back in The Hague the Mauritshuis kicks off its 200th birthday celebrations with new work inspired by its collection.
Take a look in your garden. One person did and discovered this lost Canova sculpture reclining in the undergrowth, now it is up for auction at Christies and expected to sell for millions. You can take a look at her in the Christies galleries on King Street before the hammer falls.
During the week somebody asked me what I considered to be London’s most hidden gem. Where to begin? So many amazing things to see. I consulted the Teens to see what they most enjoyed discovering and it was London’s Roman Amphitheatre. All the more amazing because you approach it through an art gallery. I asked if the London Mithreaum was not also spectacular, it is but you get some idea of what it is you might see at ground level and therefore not so amazing, also they saw the Amphitheatre first.
Happy Culturing
