Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes.
Teen One has come to visit for reading week. We’ve deployed our membership of the Southbank Centre to spend quality time riding in the singing lift to sit in the members room and taken in the Freedom and Strange Clay exhibitions when we could drag ourselves out of the lift.
After my travels last week I can report that Eindhoven and Tilburg are both really interesting cities. Both have embraced the challenges of post industrial decline with aplomb. Eindhoven especially bristles with excellent restaurants and some extraordinary buildings and there is singing lift in the Van Abbe Museum. Two singing lifts in a week, what a treat.
Tilburg has simply the best industrial museum that I have seen, not simply this is where blankets used to be woven but also a cutting edge research lab where what we wear tomorrow is designed. A more detailed and wider ranging post about the delights of Brabant is in the works.
News of the blockbuster Vermeer exhibition planned for next Spring at the Rijksmuseum keep on popping into my inbox. It promises to be the largest gathering of Vermeer paintings that we probably see in our lifetimes. Tickets are on sale now. That plus tulips, how am I going to resist a Spring jaunt to Amsterdam?
Happy Culturing
