Hello from Tunisia
Yes, you read that correctly. We got back from Austria, spent a week getting ready for the great University return. Returned one young man to York and then I headed off to Tunisia as a guest of Visit Tunisia on a tour of UNESCO sites.
Back in London this week is a busy week. Marina Abramović finally opens at the Royal Academy after a three year, Covid induced delay. The Frieze Sculpture Park opens up in Regents Park. Rarely seen watercolours go on display at the Wallace Collection. Ursula Hauser’s collection goes on show at the Foundling Museum. King Charles’ Mantegna go on their holidays to the National Gallery and the London Design festival brings all sorts of delights across London.
Ceramics in the City is making a return to the Museum of the Home this weekend. The work of 45 leading ceramicists will be on display even better work will be for sale. The fair is free to attend but if you fancy first dibs there is a private view on Friday, tickets to the preview are £5. Full details on the Museum of the Home website.
When I looked at the dates of my Tunisia visit I reckoned that University returns could be fitted in around it and most things that I would miss could be done at a later date. The one thing that I won’t be able to see is the Strawberry Hill Flower Festival. I am truly sad about this. Strawberry Hill House is both extraordinary and beautiful, always a joy to visit. The flower festival curated by Leigh Chapel and Janne Ford uses only British grown flowers arranged by the UK’s leading floral designers enhances the already beautiful house. If you get a chance to visit it is open Friday to Sunday and costs £19. Send me photos if you visit.
Happy Culturing
