Hello
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes
.All the fun of the circus, rainbow coloured walls and a brand new building all feature in this week’s Wednesday Wishes. Featuring Degas and Miss La La at the National Gallery, Zanele Muholi at Tate Modern, the Serpentine’s new pavilion and Beyond Fashion at the Saatchi Gallery. Plus a novel all about lady pirates.
When Mr CW and I go on jaunts around the country we always make sure we have our Art Fund cards with us. They get us into many museums and art galleries either for free or half price. If you haven’t yet taken the plunge, the Art Fund have a tempting offer on this summer. You can buy three months of membership for just £15.
One for early birds. The National Portrait Gallery is putting on special Before the Crowds tours on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. They will start at 10am, that’s half an hour before the gallery opens up to the public, so you get to see the stars of the gallery without the crowds. Tickets cost £16.50 and can be booked on the NPG website. https://www.npg.org.uk/whatson/event-root/before-the-crowds-collection-tours
If early mornings are not your thing how about a cultural late? Frameless will turn all its galleries over to Brainstorms: A Great Gig in the Sky on some weekend evenings in June, it will combine the music of Pink Floyd with that of Imogen Heap. Tickets start at £16 and are available on the Frameless website. In July the Wellcome Collection will welcome The Beautiful Octopus Club which promises dancing, light projections, films and massage. Take a look at the Wellcome Collection websisite for full details, free entry but you do need to book.
Where will you wander this week?
Happy Culturing
