Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes.
You will often find me waxing lyrical about flowers and have always been a keen student of town planning. Both of which feature in their week’s Wednesday Wishes. Masculinity and Vaginas are things that interest me but are not topics I tend to talk about, this week I explored both within a few hours of each other and both also feature in Wednesday Wishes. Mr CW and I have continued our church prowling. Not a Cathedral this time but Selby Abbey just outside York. What an incredible building, it is vast you can see how it would have dominated the town in its heyday. The Abbey fell victim to a terrible fire in 1906 which destroyed the wood and most of the glass but the magnificent stone remained. The wood and glass was replaced and you today you would not know there had been a fire. Right from great West door Selby looks like a text book of Norman architecture. Great rounded arches, heavy decoration and inside massive pillars with intricate carving. Well worth a detour, also the building next door to where we had lunch had a blue plaque celebrating the fact that a previous inhabitant had invented table tennis.
Spring has begun to sprout making now the perfect time visit gardens. Well anytime is good to visit but now is especially photogenic, my favourite London garden, the Chelsea Physic Garden always looks stunning at this time of year.
Happy Culturing
