Hello!
Welcome to Wednesday Wishes.
Sound the trumpets … Southern Rail have seen fit to return to the normal timetable! They even managed to clear the many trees that fell on the line to have a normal service running.
Just before Eunice blew into town I jumped on a train and headed down to Winchester for a day to see the excellent Ravilious exhibition at the Arc and then wandered down to tick another Cathedral off the list. Winchester Cathedral is incredible, you can see the mortuary boxes of Saxon Kings and Queen’s as well as the grave of Jane Austen.
In London I had an enjoyable day catching one bus across Tower Bridge to get to the Whitechapel Gallery to see A Century of Artists Rooms. Then I hopped on my favourite bus, the 15, past the Tower of London getting off at St Pauls to walk across the Millennium Bridge to see Surrealism at Tate Modern. Both exhibitions were excellent an the journey confirmed that I am lucky to live in the greatest City in the world. Still to come this week is a visit to Collect, a showcase of the very best craft work being made at the moment, always so many tempting things on show.
On my way back home I stopped for a dosa at Horn OK! In Borough Market, scrolled through Twitter and saw that an enormous Roman mosaic has been discovered right next to the station … read all about it here on Ian Visits. Borough is one of those London places that you feel history swirling all around you.
Happy Culturing
Catherine
