Hello!
Welcome to the first Wednesday Wishes of 2023.
No trains and the need to deliver both teens back to University on the same day will mean no cultural forays up to London for me this week. Just as well that there are no tempting new exhibitions on offer this week. Wednesday Wishes is filled with exhibitions which I absolutely loved an all close this Sunday, if you haven’t been book your tickets now.
New Year means new plans. I have cultural jaunts planned to Amsterdam for the Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum and to Palma where I am looking forward to checking out the Miro Foundation. To help make European cultural travel plans I have the 2023 edition of Exhibitions Worth Travelling For all polished and ready for you.
If you are looking closer to home for a cultural mini break then my guide to inspiring UK Cultural Travel destinations is for you. With places ranging from Manchester to Eastbourne most tastes are catered for!
Finally a bit of sad news from over the Christmas break. The Hardy tree has fallen. Way back when Thomas Hardy was an architect’s apprentice, he was put in charge of moving the graves in Old St Pancras churchyard to make way for the new train lines. He piled (or rather ordered others to pile) the discarded gravestones around the base of a tree in what remained of the church yard. Now the tree has fallen.
Happy Culturing
Catherine
